# Hanyu culture image record

The Culture module uses local WebP artwork so pages remain fast and never rely on
third-party image hotlinks. Files ending in `-small.webp` are responsive encodes
of the same original artwork.

## Artwork policy

- All images documented here are original editorial interpretations created for
  Hanyu with OpenAI's built-in image generation.
- They are not photographs of museum objects, archaeological records, or exact
  reconstructions. Page captions and alt text must describe them as original
  illustrations.
- Historical subjects are used to support learning context. The artwork must not
  be presented as primary-source evidence.
- The project files contain no downloaded Met Museum or Wikimedia images.

## Generated artifact and art studies

The following ten files replaced the earlier public-domain downloads on
2026-08-17. Their filenames were retained so existing routes and cached page
references continue to work.

than documentary reconstructions. Each full image has a `-small.webp` derivative.
